Canada to Impose New Surtax

Canada will impose a 25% surtax on steel and aluminum products from China, which will come into effect on October 15, 2024. An initial list of goods has been released, and The final list of goods that will be subject to the 25% surtax will be made public on October 1, 2024. Goods in transit to Canada on the day on which the surtaxes come into force will not be subject to the surtax.

The initial list of goods subject to surtaxes are those listed below. Descriptions are included for illustrative purposes, with the scope established by the tariff item in column 1.
