IMPORTANT NOTICE

CBSA POSSIBLE STRIKE

June 21, 2021

The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSA) union representing the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced on June 11 that they are preparing for a possible strike vote affecting 9,000 border services officers, including 2,000 support staff. Strike votes will commence on June 16 and continue throughout the entire month of June. This is only a vote to give the PSA’s bargaining team the mandate to call a strike if necessary.

The PSA has stated that CBSA workers have been without a contract for the last three years, and talks broke off between the two sides in December.

There is no clear indication of how this will affect the flow of commercial goods as CBSA Officers are considered an essential service. Please be prepared for possible delays in processing customs clearance requests into Canada.

More information can be found at Public Service Alliance Canada.

Should any additional information be required, please contact us.
